Meet the Gardners

August 4, 2008

Well, I got a good night’s sleep and I’m ready to conquer the day! It dawned on me that, since I’m sure I’ll be talking about my family a LOT, I should introduce them. So let me tell you a little bit about the Gardners. (I could write novels about every single one of them, but I’ll keep it brief!)

First, of course, is my sweetheart, Sterling. I can’t even begin to tell you how much he means to me. He is my rock! He’s gentle and strong, wise and quiet, calm and steady. They say opposites attract, and that’s certainly the case in our marriage! That’s not to say, of course, that I can’t be calm and steady, but those who know me know that I tend to be passionate and emotional, although I hope it’s always in a good way!

Sterling is a simply spiritual man who loves his family—and horses! If he can’t be spending his time with us, his second choice is off on a ride! Now I don’t want you to think that Sterling’s perfect (although he’s probably as close as they come) and I’m sure we’ll talk about the things that he does that drive me crazy, but can I just say I love this man!

We have five daughters (Megan, Sara, Shalae, Sage, and Shanna), four sons-in law (Nate, Sean, Jon, and Jason), and 12 grandchildren, with number 13 arriving sometime in the next few weeks! I can’t wait! I’ll share more details about each of our children and grandchildren as time passes. For now, I’ll just say that nothing brings me greater happiness than being with them, whether we’re camping, stamping, eating, or vacationing. A perfect day is a day spent with my family!

Welcome to the world of blogging! I love it, and I am glad to see you are in our blogosphere! This is so great that you are letting us in on your life.

As always when I get my new catalog, after drooling over the beautiful front cover, I always go to your family picture. Me and my mom always love to look at your beautiful family. I am so happy to see your family grow each year.

You are an amazing person, I had briefly spoken to you at Convention 2005 on the streets of Salt Lake City, Spencer and yourself were running very late for dinner. I was so afraid to bother you, but I just couldn't pass up the opportunity to meet you. That day on the street and our few minutes of coversation, have been shared often with customers and friends.

I am SO proud to be a part of SU! and all it has to offer. I can't wait to be able to meet you again some day. You are truely an inpiration to all of us.

You have now found a devoted reader of your blog, as you will be instantly added to my blogroll.

shelli, i have a silly, but interesting question. i notice you and Sterling's names both begin with S and so do 4 of your 5 girls... so my question is: Where did the name Megan come from? meaning, why only one child with a name that begins with other than an S? i like the name Megan, but i notice patterns and have always wondered in your family photo in the catalog that something was different. Isn't that crazy...i have studied the photo and determined who was yours and who was an in-law. Anyway, silly question, but just curious...
Your family is gorgeous and i love how often you are all toghether. how do you cultivate that in a home? my 8 and 10 yr old love me now, but not sure it will continue too much longer.
thanks for having a blog that we can use to tap into your wealth of knowledge.

I have been a devoted customer for about 12 years. I follow the family photos each catalog and feel like your family lives next door. I so miss the Scrapbooking TV shows (no longer being shown) to watch you and Sara on TV. When and why did Sara move away? With 5 children I know she is busy, but does she still do demos/tv? Are you guys on any other TV shows for live demos? Wish you did have a site with short live "webasodes", as I enjoy seeing you and learn by watching things being done. My son is also a missionary - in Germany. Best wishes to Shana and your lovely family. I have 5 grandbabies; can't imagine what 13 in like! Thanks so much. Beverly
