Did You Know?

I have recently learned that there has been some confusion and concern regarding my personal blog content appearing on the Stampin' Up! corporate website, so I thought I’d take this opportunity to share a few things with you.

First, soshelli.com is my personal blog (and a journal of sorts for me), where I post about my life, my family, my religion, and Stampin’ Up!, just as I have done since the beginning of my blog. These posts evolve with my personal circumstances.

Stampin’ Up!’s home page is a feed with content from some of our social sites and includes Stampin' Up!’s own corporate blog. The site tells an overall story about who we are and is a place for us to share ideas, promote products, and make announcements.

As the owner of the company, my blog posts contribute to that feed because many of them feature samples made with Stampin’ Up! products, recognize demonstrators and employees, and highlight company events; however, timely corporate announcements should always be the priority, and we have taken steps to ensure this will happen in the future.

I understand that some people may occasionally be offended by what I write. To offend is certainly never my intention! My goal is to inspire and connect on a more personal basis with those who visit my blog.

Some subtle changes have been made to soshelli.com, and we will make more changes to distinguish corporate blog posts from my personal posts so visitors can more clearly choose what content they wish to view. I will also try to remember to have sensitive posts removed from the company’s home page feed, so as not to offend.

I’m sorry to have caused concern or to have offended anyone. I hope you know me well enough to know that I would never intentionally do either. It’s just not my nature.

Thank you for sharing your thoughts and concerns. I really do value them…and all of you!

I so enjoy your blogs. The information you give makes us feel like we are a part of your family. Like any family everyone doesn't agree about some things. A family knows that no hurt is intended.

I feel privileged, that you as the CEO, of such a large company, not only in the US but in other countries, feels comfortable sharing, not only the business end of things, but your personal life with all of your employees, co-workers and demonstrators. Truly there are not many CEO's that would even be willing to do so, let alone, take time out of their busy schedule to blog their thoughts and share their families with everyone. I commend you for that. I look forward to reading this blog daily in anticipation of your input and what you want to share with us as demonstrators. I have never felt offended in any way. Please keep on blogging.

Please don't change because someone, or several, were offended. They are not forced into reading your personal blog and should not feel the need to click! I've never had the impression that this was a corporate blog. You're amazing! Keep on doing exactly what you've been doing.

Shelli, don't change a thing. You are what makes Stampin' Up! great. We are all about helping, caring and family. You are a true role model. I hate to think that we actually have demonstrators who are offended by your blogs. Hmmm...maybe they should rethink their priorities in life.

Keep sharing Shelli - the majority of us are with SU because of you. Never forget that ... before I met you I didn't pay much attention to this page, now that I have met you and members of your family this is my first port of call when I sign onto the website ... you are an inspiration ... don't forget it.

Hi Shelli
I am not religious at all and I must confess I am sceptical of organised religion after being brought up in one. However, I really enjoy reading your blog and find it inspiring and incredibly positive. I live on the Gold Coast in Australia and whenever I see Mormon missionaries I think of you, and your family, and give them a big smile and a cheery hello.
I think in this situation the following phrase is appropriate. “You can please some of the people all of the time, you can please all of the people some of the time, but you can’t please all of the people all of the time”
You are doing a great job!

Just wanted to say we live in a time when multitudes appear to be offended. But I suspect it has nothing to do with offense and is more about their desire to shut us up because we don't follow their creed. Not long ago Chik-fil-a was under attack for their beliefs and their supporters rallied round, circumventing the downfall that their detractors hoped to achieve. I fear giving those who cry foul and claim to be offended attention only encourages them all the more. The old adage 'the wheel that squeaks gets the oil' applies here. Well, that squeaky wheel has gotten plenty of oil but it continues to squeak. It may be time to take note that oil won't fix that squeak.

How can the Mormon church claim that the Book of Mormon is the "fullness of the everlasting gospel" when so many present-day Mormon beliefs contradict the Book of Mormon? For example:
There is only one God - Mosiah 15:1-5; Alma 11:28-29; 2 Nephi 31:21
God is unchanging - Mormon 9:9,19; Mororni 8:18; Alma 41:8; Nephi 24:6
God is a spirit - Alma 18:24-28; 22:9-11
The Holy Spirit - Dwells in man - Alma 18:35; Is God - Alma 18:28; Created all - Alma 22:9-11
Jesus Christ - Is God - 2 Nephi 10:3; Mosiah 13:34-35; 15:1-5; Was virgin born - Alma 7:10; Created all - 3 Nephi 9:15
God the Father - Redeemed man - Mosiah 13:32; Created all - Jacob 4:9
Polygamy condemned - Jacob 1:15; 223,24,27,31: 3:5 Mosiah 11:2,4; Ether 10:5,7

Are we to conclude that the Book of Mormon is wrong? Or is present-day Mormon leadership in error? Which is it?

The Book of Mormon, the keystone fo the Mormon religion, contains very little in terms of the "Mormonism" as taught by the Mormon church today. Among other things, the Book of Mormon says nothing about...

Mormon church organization
the Aaronic priesthood
the "plurality of Gods" doctrine
the "God is an exalted man" doctrine
the doctrine that men may become gods
the doctrine of three degrees of glory, or three kingdoms
the "plurality of wives" doctrine
the "celestial marriage" doctrine with all the elaborate temple ceremonies and oaths
baptism for the dead
the "word of wisdom" doctrine
the doctrine of preexistence
the doctrine of eternal progression

These doctrines - all of them central to Mormon theology - are nowhere to be found within the pages of the Book of Mormon.

How can the Mormon church claim that the Book of Mormon is the "fullness of the everlasting gospel" when so much important Mormon doctrine is missing from it?

Offensive is never a word I'd associate with you. I LOVE reading your personal stories - honestly, I love that more than the stamping because you have such an interesting story and such a great family and church life.

Keep on being Shelli and ignore grumpy people. It worked for Pooh Bear :)

Love ya.

How very sad to read that you have to apologize for a goodness and love from your heart that you share with all who choose to read your comments. I thought we lived in a free country??? Looks as though if someone states negative remarks they are more accepted than the ones who care to make the world a better place.
As for me.....I commend you and Sterling for sharing your faith in such a positive way. I do not practice your religion but have relatives that do and I have been so lucky to have the opportunity of meeting so many nice, loving, and caring young people from the LDS religion as they were doing their missions and I can say it has given me hope that there are a lot of good people in this world.
Thanks for all what you do to make this a more positive world.
