A New Moon Memory

As some of you Twilight fans may know, New Moon broke a few opening weekend movie records, and we certainly did our part to make that happen!

My girls are all huge Twilight fans, so we rented a theater for a screening of the show last night. Turns out you don’t have to be anybody famous or rich or special to rent a theater—you just have to be willing to pay what the theater would make if every seat sold. Well, we knew we could fill the theater with our family and friends, so we set a date and spread the news.

Shanna was in charge of gathering the money and handling seat selection; you could choose your seats on a first-paid, first-pick basis. And in my opinion, it didn’t matter whether you liked the movie or not, just watching it with a big group of people you know was a great experience! Sterling said it best—“It was like watching a movie with lots of people you know in a really big living room.”

We began the evening with dinner at a nearby restaurant with a smaller group, then we walked over to the theater.

It was fun to see our name in lights, reserving the theater.

Since we knew just about everyone in the theater, there was a casual, fun, friendly atmosphere. We called out greetings as people arrived, and when Vonna and her daughters came all the way from Kanab, we cheered.

We got away with a little visiting and a few loud comments that we wouldn’t have in a normal movie theater (my favorite was when Jacob ripped off his shirt, and Sterling’s best friend said, loud enough for everyone to hear, “Hold it down, Shanna!”). Everyone laughed at that, especially Shanna!

So it was definitely memorable, and the girls are already making plans for a repeat performance when the next movie is released!

Oh, how fun, Shelli! I love reading about your family's activities, your good times and yes, even your not-so-good times. I've been a demonstrator for over 8 years now, and I do think your blog is the neatest thing. What a great way to get to know you. You make all of us feel like your bestest friend! Thanks for taking the time to share your life with us.

Looks like you had a fabulous time! I'm going to see this on Wednesday, I can't wait! (Although its just me and a friend - not enough to fill a whole theatre!) Thanks for sharing this, I'm hoping to arrange something like this too!

Hi Shelli,
What fun. We had 9 of us in our group.
Perhaps Stampin' Up! should have a Twilight Saga stamp set. That would be totally cool and popular!
Hugs,
Di

Sounds like a PaRtY!!!! Even the men looked happy!
I always feel like I am the only female in Utah who has not read any of the books or seen any of the movies. I may just have to give in, at some point. Anyway, I'm so glad you all had a good time. Its' great Shanna was home to enjoy! As always, thanks for sharing.

What a cool outing! I had no idea you could rent a movie theater - definitely something to keep in mind...

The only thing I have done similar to that was rent an arena with friends so that we could go skating just the bunch of us. We had agreed - only bad skaters allowed, and we played the most ridiculously long hockey game that ever was. It takes an awfully long time to skate all the way to the other end of the rink to get the puck when you're not a seasoned skater... We had a great time, as I'm sure you guys did!

TFS!

I'm a few days behind but am so glad you'll got to go see it together. My hubby and I went on opening day and we were both very happy that this movie was so much better than the first. We had some wild comments in our theater after Jacob rips off his shirt as well as a reply from some man, it really was a funny moment and I didn't even know the people!

My husband and I also went to a special screening and saw the movie Thurs night at 9:30 before the midnight opening. We got free tickets through Best Buy and they had rented the theater out too. No lines, free tickets, great movie and when we left they gave us free gift cards too! We would have loved to have been with people we knew!
