A Summer BBQ

Sterling and I have spent the last few days up in the Seattle area, visiting Clearsnap, a manufacturing plant that we own. It’s a smaller company; in fact, it reminds me a lot of Kanab with a bunch of good, hardworking people who put in an honest day’s work for an honest day’s pay to build a quality product.

Sterling attended several meetings while I called in to several meetings at Stampin’ Up!, and we watched them working hard on the floor to manufacture a variety of products; they produce some of Stampin’ Up!’s product and products for other companies as well.

In addition, we planned our visit to coincide with their summer BBQ (which was also scheduled to celebrate the plant manager’s 60th birthday!), and it was fun to visit with everyone and get to know them a little better. In true Seattle fashion, it was raining, so we ended up BBQ'ing in the covered patio, but it was still enjoyable!

I love spending time with genuine, honest people—we both came back home tonight feeling happy and uplifted.

Sounds like a nice day for all. Sorry about the rain, but I'm sure the locals are used to it!

Hi,

I went to search what Clearsnap was all about. I wanted to find out what products they produced. I was surprised to find that they sell products that are in competition with SU! products. I am having a bit of a difficulty understanding how you can own two companies that make similar competing products. I have heard you say that SU! inks are the best, but then you also own Clearsnap that produces ColorBox, etc.? Then they are produce other types of rollers for clear stamps and clear stamps. You have said that red rubber and mounted stamps are the best, but now yet you own a company that produces competing products. I am confused?

Shelli,
Please...consider carrying kids ink pads again in the SU catalog! After reading your post I clicked over to Clearsnap and saw the kids line of ink pads...I miss them terribly now that my baby is 4 and loves to stamp wich me (that's how she says it - lol!)

Shelli, I'm so glad you and Sterling were able to visit and meet with the good people at Clearsnap! It sounds like a great time was had by all despite the rain.

I also find your blogs uplifting. Thank you for being an encourager to us all! Thank you also for modeling how to treat those we work for and with, and those who work for us!

I am a new demonstrator and today is the first time I have read your blog. It is wonderful to see what you do, that you are a real part of your company and your family is great. I am proud to be a part of your dream. I don't know if I can meet my quota every month and stay in the "circle' as I am on fixed income, but I have a dream too, and it is to make this work. I appreciate the opportunity that was given recently that allowed me to join, finally, at a reduced rate. I see so many people to have taken the chance and made it work, so I don't see why I can't. Stampin' Up seems to be behind every one of us as individuals, and with that kind of support, I felt I could at least give it a try. Thank you for sharing and I admire what you have done over the past 20 years. Congratulations and kuddos!

Shelli, It appears you came the wrong week to Seattle!! The following week we had temps in the upper 80's. Glad you had a great time at Clearsnap and hope you can come again when it isn't raining. LOL
I think it is so great how closely connected you stay to all your different facilities! Can I make a small plea that SU! carry the Colorbox Fluid Chalk Ink Queues...I love these inks! Not more than SU! ink, but in a different way as the finish they produce is completely different. I would love to be able to purchase these from myself, demo them, as well as be able to offer a wider selection than our local Michael's or Hobby Lobby! I've also heard great things about the Smooches! I think it is so cool that you own this great company as well!
