A Superb Saturday

Yesterday was one of the most relaxing days I’ve enjoyed in a long while. I got up early to do some church service and then picked up Shalae for yoga. It’s not often that we get to go anywhere alone, so the 30-minute drive (one way) was perfect for visiting with no little (meaning children) interruptions.

Then Jason, Sage, and Kona met us at Jon and Shalae’s for a picnic lunch in their backyard while we watched the kids play. We wanted to get together for Jason’s belated birthday, and it was a lovely day for an outdoor activity.

In between small projects in the afternoon, I took great pleasure in a long and relaxing massage and then read a magazine in the bathtub. I wonder if there’s any way I could order two Saturdays a week—one to complete multiple non-work projects I have on my to-do list and one to spend just like yesterday. It was a superb Saturday!

I'm just catching up with all your blog posts and I see that you mentioned your daughter's Texas Sheet Cake. I'm unable to find the post where you gave the recipe....would you be willing to post it again? Or, send it to my email address? Thanks, Judy

I LOVE living vicariously through your wonderful life. I'm so envious of you, but you deserve every wonderful moment. You are an amazing and inspirational woman and I'm proud to be part of your "extended" family.

For the previous poster, Judy Lucas: The Texas Sheet Cake recipe can be found on the Sept. 24th post. I have copied it into a Word document. If you would like a copy, just email me and I'll be glad to send it to you.

Shelli,
I have an enormous amount of respect for you. You obviously work very hard and you are entitled to reap all of the rewards of your diligent efforts. However, as a business owner, you know first-hand that the economy has tanked and that many people are barely making ends meet. I wonder if you ever feel that by talking about your massages, your many vacations, and your backyard fire dancers that maybe you are being insensitive to your many demonstrators who are dealing with unemployment and all of the trauma that is involved with it. I haven't read your blog in about a month, and I have to say that when I read your last several posts today I was shocked that you would so openly discuss all of your travels and personal expenditures when so many people, including some of the people whom Stampin' Up! laid off, are still unemployed. It just doesn't seem like you! I am sure that it was never your intention to hurt anyone's feelings, but in my downline alone I have demonstrators whose husbands are unemployed and whose houses are in foreclosure. I can't recommend that they read your blog because it seems like with all of their hard work the only person reaping the rewards is you. I just wanted to point this out to you because I know that you are anything BUT insensitive.

Shelli,
I just wanted to stop in and say hi. I will be becoming a new demonstrator after July 1. I want to thank you for the opportunity to save on my craft supplies and to teach others to make projects. I am recently a retired/disabled high school science teacher, and I found that my love for scrapbooking and paper crafts served as wonderful therapy for my physical body and my spirit. With Stampin Up! I plan to continue my personal therapy sessions and share my experiences and craft with others. At the age of 38, I have so much left to give to others, and with Stampin Up! I can do that by choosing times and settings that are suitable for my special needs. I am so grateful to you for having the forethought to step out and create such a wonderful company.
Before I go, I would like to respond to the comment by "Concerned". Many, many people are and have been affected by the economic situation across our nation. I believe that those who are able to continue to spend, vacation, and massage, are keeping the country from getting in a worse economic condition. Furthermore, on a personal blog, such as this, sharing personal successes serves as an inspiration to those of us who are struggling financially. There is light at the end of the tunnel, and the rest of us will be able to partake again soon. Thus far, God has provided for my family. We have had to cut severely, but our hope still lives. Luckily, I am going to be able to participate as a Stampin Up! demonstrator to get some income on the spending that others, like you, do!
Enjoy every little thing you do. Never feel guilty for spending money. Our country can never heal if people with money don't spend it!
Thank you again,
Leslie

What a GREAT Saturday Shelli! We all could use some like that. I LOVED the pictures of the grandkids.

First off I have to say that the photos of the grand kids are marvelous! I so love seeing their bright, smiling faces!!

Secondly, I shouldn't do this but I just can't bite my tongue anymore. To "Concerned": this is Shelli's personal blog and she has a right to write about whatever she chooses to write about. Personally, I love that she has been open and honest about her life and isn't censoring what she says. The fact that people come here and try to make her feel bad about the life she has, makes me ill. Shelli has worked VERY HARD to have the things she has and she has every right to enjoy life as she sees fit. Yes, times are tough for a lot of people (and my family is no exception) BUT I don't, for one minute begrudge anyone, anything they have earned and deserve. And while there are many people out there struggling let's talk about all the people that are working and earning a living because of Shelli and Stampin' Up! I've said too much but I will say one more thing, it's RUDE to come on to Shelli's personal blog and attack her like this. If you have a problem, send her a letter and tell her. Another thing is, if you don't have anything nice to say, then don't say anything at all and at least have the integrity to post your name.

To Shelli: I apologize for my outburst but I just can't stand by and let people attack you. It's not right. Please don't let people like "concerned" change what you share. You have a right to your life and deserve every happiness!
