What a Day!

All I can say is that I hope never to repeat this day. It certainly hasn’t been my worst, but it definitely hasn’t been my best!

Without going into too much detail, suffice it to say that Sara and I left this morning to head off for our third week of Workshops of a Lifetime. Our flight leaving Salt Lake City was delayed by two hours, meaning we missed one connection, meaning we missed another connection. We eventually got re-routed to our final destination from Chicago, arriving way later than originally planned. (And since I didn’t get any sleep last night, I was kind of counting on getting to bed early tonight! Hate when that happens. . . )

And to add insult to injury, our luggage (complete with clothes, make-up, and some of the workshop supplies) flew off into the sunset to who knows where. We had hoped that it might arrive here before we did, but unfortunately, we were disappointed. I laughed as we left the baggage area after filling out all the forms, because Sara kept looking back longingly at the carousel, hoping against hope that somehow the missing bags might miraculously appear. Didn’t happen. . .

So tonight, besides being exhausted, we’re trying to come up with a Plan B for our workshop. I think we’ll be OK—we have the actual project and Make & Takes with us (we had them in our carry-ons) and we’re hoping our sweet hostess has many of the basic supplies that we will need to replace the ones that are flying (or sitting) somewhere in the vast airline universe.

I think we’ll go to bed now. We’re finally here, we know what we’ve got and what we don’t have, and the day will be much brighter tomorrow, right? I know the workshop will be fabulous regardless—I mean, I’ve never been with a group of stampers and not had a great time. As a friend of mine likes to say, “It will be alright in the end, so if it’s not alright, it’s not the end!” I’m certain that tomorrow night, everything will be alright!

P.S. I haven’t forgotten to choose the Creative Challenge winners—I had planned to finalize that tonight, but I think I’ll go to bed instead. Watch for those winners to be announced soon. . . .

Shelli, you'll do fine! I still remember that hilarious demonstration that Suzi Miller did at convention when she couldn't find her scissors and she tore her cardstock with her teeth!!! Stampin' Up! demos are very ingenious!!! Good luck, you'll have lots of fun!

Shelli, your positive thoughtsa and never can't conquer attitude will keep you afloat long after many of us have drifted. Thank you for keeping us all in a place where even the best of the best can be real. I so appreciate you and your always human perspective on how things that go "wrong" can still be places of growth. You inspire me and I thank you for that everyday!!
Many blessings to you and your family -- Kelli

Good luck tomorrow! I'm praying that they'll get you your luggage and supplies in time for you to use them. Hope you are getting some much-needed sleep tonight.

All things work together for good to those who are called of God...

Who knows what you avoided by being held back? I know there is a pony somewhere in all of this dung! Things can be replaced, but you can't. Angels protect us from things we can't see.

Yuck! What a bad traveling day- Remember, everything happens for a reason; sometimes we don't know what that reason is at the time, or never know what that reason is but the Lord does and that is all that matters! You and Sara will do fine at the workshop! I'm sure you can stamp with you eyes closed and hands tied behind your back and your projects would still turn out exquisite!

As my daughters are getting ready for their day, I paraphrased your posting until I got near the end and read, “It will be alright in the end, so if it’s not alright, it’s not the end!” All of us in unison, Ahhww! That is such a good quote we all agreed. You should talk to your friend and credit her; then make a stamp!

It probably seemed rough at the time, but in a way it was really good. You are probably asking, “How could all that happened yesterday be good?” What happened to you yesterday show each and everyone of us that things don’t always go well, and even when it seems like total chaos our attitude can make the whole difference in the “end!” Besides, we know everything will go well at the workshop, because how can it not with such good people involved!

All the best to you in all you do,
Markey

Our prayers are with you and Sara....you sound like myself and a close demonstartor frind at convention this year...Our luggage (and her swaps) finally arrived the day before we came home.....and that was after many phone calls...very frustrating, and finally a trip to the airport to complain...only to find our luggage sitting there...who knows for how long....We laugh about it now...but when you have missed flights, and upset travel times...it can be very frustrating. Keep smiling!!!

Shelli,
I been traveling every week for the last couple years!, and only once they have lost my luggage , I did recover it tough.
So here is what you can do.
Call the airline again with your luggage number ( sticker in the back of your ticket) and ask them to deliver the luggae to your Hotel or were you are staying, or if you only going to be there 1 day, have them send it to your home.

If you have a credit card a cel phone , YOU ARE GOOD!, you can buy anything you need ( cloths, etc) if you workshop is not until tomorow night you can have some of your supplies overnight from riverton.
there you go,
I hope you feel better now,
just keep moving forward.

I know how frustating delayed airplane rides and lost luggage can be! When it happened to me, I didn't have the family of Stampin Up! to lift me up!!! It will be just fine and you will have a great time!

Oh, frustrating! I hope everything turned out well.....in fact, I'm betting it turns out to be one of the better workshops! Improvisation can do that!!!

It sounds like my return trip from Convention. I too was making my way to Ontario. I live a few hours west of where you were going. I travelled about 20 hours with several flights and delays. I spent the time watching Twilight on my computer and thinking of my time in SLC and at Convention. I kept all of my swaps and my items from Momento Mall in my carry on so I didn't care if my luggage went missing!! Glad everything went well for you both!
