Getting Ready for the Workshop

The Gardner home is bustling today—tonight is our first workshop of the year!

We’re all busy getting ready. Sara and Shalae (both demonstrators) will be demonstrating a project, Shanna is making some delicious yummies, and I’m the hostess.

When I was trying to decide who to invite, I decided to do a workshop for all the women in our ward (Church congregation). That’s quite a large group, so I did a TON of invitations because I didn’t want to leave anyone out, and as a hostess, I know that the more people I invite, the more likely I am to have a large group!

Sara created the invitation in My Digital Studio (and showed it on her My Digital Studio blog) a few weeks ago. Of course, me being me, I had to add a little dimension and texture—I really love the difference that makes.

I’ve been handing delivering the invitation over the last week—I wouldn’t necessarily encourage that for hostesses; it took a lot of time!) I had fun though—I drove and took Sidney, who actually did the work, jumping in and out of the car.

Even though I did put “RSVP” on the invitation, I’m not sure how many people are actually coming; you all know how that goes! I have heard from several ladies though, and I can tell they are excited! Each person who has RSVP’ed has mentioned they are looking forward to a fun night out, stamping and socializing with friends. A few have actually giggled as they’ve chatted with me—I can tell they’re looking forward to it! That’s what Stampin’ Up! is all about.

Of course, I’ll post a full report tomorrow. In the meantime, wish us luck!

I had my first workshop of the year on Wednesday and it was fantastic! SAB sets for nearly every customer. Incidentally, this one more than any other made me realise the difference SU makes in people's lives. While waiting for the 16 guests to arrive, the hostess was telling me how she didn't have much of a social life before she started stamping! Many of her work colleagues were there - now they are all good friends who have a "show and tell" session every week, so they can see each other's stamping creations.

Good Luck! I'm sure everyone will have a blast. Stampin' makes me giggle, too! I always look forward to our monthly stamp camp for a night out and to leave "reality" behind for a few hours.

btw, love the invitation. I saw if first on Sara's mds blog and loved it. I bought the cupcake mds punch and paper....might have to get the real punch, too. It is so darling. And I love how you added the adornment to the cupcake. I need to learn how to do hybrid projects.

Hi Shelli: This is my first time visiting your blog. I just want to say that I love SU, and all the products and most of all the creativity that happens when I sit down at my craft area. I was wondering if the SU Convention 2010 theme is available for download. I simply love it. What a cool and catchy tune. I'd love to have it on my iPod and play it while creating. I can't get it out of my head. LOL I ran across it while view some of the wonderful videons on YouTube, from SU Convention and some of the Demos receiving their boxes of goodies. I LOVE the invites to your workshop - even if I knew nothing about stamping I'd want to come because the invites were so darling! I'm glad to hear that it went well and it looks like everyone had a great time (and were fed well!) I've been hesitant to learn to use MDS because computers and I don't exactly "get along" but your hybrid invitations have really got me thinking! Thanks for sharing and congrats on a successful workshop!
