I Miss Them

Sterling and I left for Florida on Tuesday morning and got home tonight. It wasn’t quite four full days, and it wasn’t long enough. Every time I leave Shanna, my heart is heavy. I’m sad, I’m quiet, I cry. Most of all, I’m grateful for the chance to spend time with her and her adorable twins.

It’s incredible to watch Shanna juggle her life as a single mom. She’s courageous, determined, patient, and loving. And although Liam and Abigail are a handful, they’re happy, sensitive, helpful, and good kids!

All three blew kisses as we drove away, and Abbie said, “But I miss them.” I miss them too!

Beautiful children! And I am so glad to see that they wear helmets (properly adjusted so that their precious brains will be protected should they fall), too. I hope Shanna wears one, as well, when they all bike together (which I hope they do!). If not, please pass along my thought: she's as precious to them as they are to her!! Happy and safe cycling to all.

Shelli - I can't imagine how hard it is to be so far away - being a grandma is tough! I know that Shanna appreciates your time spent with them and the children will always treasure their time with you.

Grandchildren are so special and I empathize with you not being able to spend the time with them...I also don't get to see my "littles" nearly enough...my heart goes out to you.

My goodness, those smiles. I'm sorry your heart is heavy, I hope you can see them again very soon.

They are getting so big! I know how you feel being so far from them. All but one grandchild lives away from us. We don't get to see them nearly enough!
