Convention 2008

August 3, 2008

I know I said this would go live on Monday, but I just had to get on today and post my first entry.

After months of anticipation and hard work and excitement, convention is over!

I love convention! I love feeling the energy and looking at all the great project ideas and popping in on the classes. But what I love most about convention is meeting people from across the United States and Canada, talking to them and sharing our enthusiasm for what we do!

I have to be honest though—it’s hard work, and I’m exhausted. But I had to get on and share what I was feeling. I wanted my first blog to be about how much I love and appreciate our wonderful Stampin’ Up! demonstrators and staff members! And how much I loved spending the last three days with so many of you.

Check out this sample that I saw! We have thousands of projects displayed on our display boards at convention, and I enjoy seeing as many of them as I can. This is only one of hundreds I took pictures of, and I wanted to share it with you. I liked it because it made me happy! I love the Always set, loved the color palette (they are colors I’ve used in my own stamp studio), and loved the layers. I just loved everything about it.

I’ll share more project ideas—and thoughts about convention—in the days to come. But for now I’m going to rest and recover, go cuddle on the couch with my sweetheart and get ready for the coming week. We’ll chat more later. . . .

Shelli, I am so excited about you having a blog. I spend hours each week pouring over different stamper's blogs, so having you join them is exciting! I agree with you about this page, it is stunning! I will look forward to seeing many more stunning examples on your blog!

Shelli,
Your blog is beautiful! I had a WONDERFUL time at Convention! Yet, again it was the highlight of my year! It was my 5 year anniversary year and what put the iceing on the cake was waiting in line for two hours to meet you! I then got up there and got star struck and really don't know what I said. It was the highlight though because I hadn't met you yet in the five years that I've been a demo! I wanted to ask you if you have ever thought about having a fundraiser in support of Autism and Autism Awareness? I think you should think about it. I have an eight year old son with autism and I bet there are many demonstrators out there touched by autism some how. Again...thanks for a great Convention! I'm ready to get out there and boost my buisness up one level.
God bless you,
Sarah Kirk

I love your spirit and your lovely smile. You make EVERYONE feel so special. Where have I heard "EVERYONE" before? Man, what a big wonderful surprise that was. Loved all of convention gifts. Shelli,
I would like to add my thanks for the creative Celebrations of 20 years for Stampin'Up! Most of all I appreciate the ending of convention when we were able to give a small sample of how much we appreciate the Men in Brown! It was a bit spooky that my fellow demos and I were just moments before the UPS Rep. came on stage with his box that I said we, meaning Stampin'Up! and demonstrators alike should do something special to honor and thank the UPS staff in a big way for all their effort to make our business flourish. Getting orders is never fast enough but they are as fast as possible most of the time.
It was an awesome end to the convention!
Praises to SU and UPS!

Shelli,
Your blog is beautiful! I am so excited that you are doing this. Convention was a blast as usual and everyone at SU was awesome. Thanks for all of the hard work. I had to give my UPS guy a hug this morning and tell him what they did for us. I look forward to seeing in a few weeks in St. George.

Shelli, I've been to Regionals but this was my first Convention. You delivered as always! You are such an inspiration. Thanks to all the staff who made the convention run smoothly; they did a fine job. I learned a lot from the seminars. I wished those could be included in a dvd, all the demo'd projects. There's so much information that I couldn't take all the notes I needed. Thanks, again, Shelli. I'll be reading your blog for more inspiration. Might I make a suggestion? Could you add an RSS feed sign-up? Subscribers will then be automatically notified of updates of blog content. :) Thanks.

Shelli,

I just want to thank you from the bottom of my heart, for everything you and your staff did for us at Convention '08! This was my first convention and I can honestly say very worthwhile! Thanks, so much for surprising us with all the little different things that were unveiled there as well! That was just fantastic! Wishing you all the best!

You're courage to start a blog has inspired me to try starting one as well so thank you! Celebrate 2008 was my first Convention and I want to thank you (and your staff and family) for such a wonderful and inspiring event. I don't know which was more of a surprise...the announcement of the partnership with Sizzix or that I earned Rising Star...I didn't realize I was in the running and it was a wonderful surprise. Your jacket in the picture on your blog reminds me of the stamp set "Wonderful You" and I just have to say it is so appropriate because I truly think you are...wonderful that is!! Looking forward to seeing you in September!

Your blog is incredible as was convention. Thank you and the SU! staff so much for a wonderful, exciting, exhausting (in a good way) first convention.

Thank you also for sharing your thoughts and passions with us.

We spoke at convention, and when I started to tell you how much SU! means to me, I became so overwhelmed with emotion that I forgot to tell you, Happy Anniversary! Congratulations for all of your success and for 20 years! No small accomplishment, and definately not a fad. Thank goodness!

YOWZAH! I saw that page & was inspired too! This was my 10th & best convention. 650 photos. Almost 6,000 stampin' friends. What's not to like? Can't wait until next year!

Good luck with the blog. I look forward to reading it with Stamper Dog nearby.

You Rock Babe, I couldn't make it to convention, next year, But the funniest thing happen on the Splitcoast Demo only forums. We were all sitting, gabbing, and speculating as to what was going on and someone posted that it would be funny if Stampin Up had a big screen of it. You guys would of just ROFL. Next best thing to being there.

Hi Shelli
It's sooo nice to have a chance to talk with you.
I have a suggestion could SU have stamps with coordinating paper??? I loved tart and tangy because summer picnic dsp went with it....but I would have gone a step more and had orange slice and lime sliced paper as well as the cherries and apples. With maybe some solid 12x12 paper! Sold as a set or apart but let people know they match!
While I'm on a roll how about punches and the sets that match clearly together sometime it's hard for people to tell which set goes with each punch. much love SU demo DD

WOW! Shelli, this is totally cool. To acutally be sitting here reading your BLOG! I was so excited to hear all the tidbits from convention goers and couldn't believe my ears!
I was an SU! Demo previously and have only attended one convention but afer this years I don't want to miss another one! I have been contemplating rejoining SU! and I think it is the perfect time. I just wanted to say how much I love SU! and how motivating it is to see all the blogs out there with all the SU! Demos that are making it happen. I know it is because of the fabulous company and the support they all receive from you! Thanks for all you do and I will be "stalking" this blog daily.
Oh, and I almost forgot I can't wait to get my hands on that BIG SHOT!!! YEAH. Thanks again Shelli, you are fabulous.

Shelli,
Convention was awesome as usual. Very uplifting and inspirational. I am .... a hobbyist but so much enjoy Stampin' Up! and all that it entails--products, philsophies and of course the Statement of the Heart which really says it all. Thanks for starting a blog which I have added to my favorites so I'll be able to visit you often and keep up. I'm looking forward to your family updates and also your sharing of ideas and artwork. I am considering attending Leadership '09 but don't know if I'll be able to swing it or not. I have been to all of the leaderships since I joined in 2000 with the exception of 04.
Keep up the great work! You are indeed a very remarkable lady! You go, Shelli!
Sylvia
