Off for the Weekend

I'm off to a family reunion in southern Utah and will probably be out of Internet range, cell range--any range that includes anything but relaxing! This is one of my favorite reunions because it usually happens shortly after convention, and I'm ready to just veg (is that a word?--you know what I mean) and visit.

So I don't feel quite so guilty, join me this weekend in a few moments of rest and relaxation doing something you love, like sitting on the back porch listening to the birds chirp, or taking a stroll in the warm summer breeze (some of you might have to take that stroll late at night when it's not quite so warm!), or maybe even stamp something just for fun--not for a workshop or other event--but because you're inspired by something or someone and want to create!

We'll talk the first of the week.

Enjoy your time away and RELAX! You all deserve it after a busy and hectic convention! I could have used vacation after semi vacation from convention. PS. My 99.5 yr great aunt just loved the frog, bear and the pup I brought back for just for her.
Have fun! It is great to spend time with all of the family.

Shelli

You are so very lucky to have such a close knit family. I so wish we had that again. Since I lost both my parents: one brother moved to CA and the other is only 40 mins from me but his wife only visits with her family....

Enjoy your rest you deserve it....As we are renovating our bathroom, I do not think I'll get any rest!!!

Stampingly yours,
Terry M~~

Have a great time away! I had to chuckle over the card you received from the little eleven year old about SU! making nail polish colors and the fact that she was counting down until she could become a demo. My son, who is nice, recently commented to me that he thinks he will become a SU! demo after he becomes a missionary. Our children really are interested in what we do!

We just had a family reunion at the end of June and it was the first time in about 20 years that all 9 of my parents' kids have been together! Not to mention the 30 some odd grandkids and 2 great grandkids! Crazy! I hope you enjoy your reunion! It is so fun to be with family and just get to enjoy each others company!

Hi Shelli,
I just love reading your posts. I think this blog will go a long way to making us all feel that much closer to you and to getting to know you that much better. I just registered this morning for Hawaii and I can't wait to see that beautiful blue ocean again. Thank you for making that possible! Enjoy your weekend!

I spend a lot of time chasing my two little boys - and just generally trying to keep our family going, like most moms! - but I got a chance Friday afternoon to sit outside while the boys played in the yard. I leaned the back of the lawn chair back for a few moments, and looked up - at the clouds moving through the clear blue sky - and felt more peace than I have in a long while. I wish that peace for you - and me - and all of us!

Shelli,
I know you are a busy woman having such a successful business and all but for the first time I am feeling extremely disappointed in Stampin Up. You talk about how you will be sharing things from convention so I thought I would share something with you. I was really bummed that I was unable to attend because of financial reasons. I am one of your many thousands of demonstrators. I have a monthly club that gets together and places an order and I host monthly events, etc. I really wanted to attend with it being the 20th anniversary but I just couldn’t do it. I just became a demonstrator in February. So financially the convention just wasn’t going to happen for me. I know there are benefits that come along with attending convention, the free stamps, the bag, the classes, etc. This is why I have to share with you my utter disappointment that Stampin Up is not including all demonstrators in on the discount for the BIG SHOT. This is an extremely expensive item yet you are only allowing your convention demonstrator attendees to benefit from the discount. Didn't they receive 3-4 free stamp sets that those of us who were not able to attend will have to purchase if we so choose? Didn't they get ideas that those of us will only be able to get from our up line if we are connected to one? Isn’t the least you can do is give is the discount on the BIG SHOT so we too can start using it. I imagine I’m not the only one feeling this disappointment. I was so excited when I saw that Stampin Up was hooked up with the Big Shot and that I was going to get a discount on it. But then I read closer and noticed that I wasn’t. My excitement turned to utter disappointment. I hope you can understand where I am coming from.

Shelli---just curious.....is your jacket made using So Shelli fabric? Like others have commented, I love your blog. I hope to read it regularly. I also loved being at my first convention and look forward to many more!

p.s. I really do not enjoy reading entries from people complaining about discounts that are offered to convention go-ers. Living on the east coast, convention costs were about $1,000 minimum. We are not a wealthy family by any means. I happen to have saved up the entire year (on a monthly basis) for this special trip. I am very grateful for all that Stampin' Up! has given me (in products, discounts and spirit) because of my decision to attend. Thank you for everything that Stampin' Up! brings to me and my family!

In response to Susan Silver I would just like to say that I'm not complaining I'm simply voicing my opinion. I think people who attend convention should get perks that others should not because it does cost so much to attend. I really wanted to attend convention for all the same reasons people attend but I couldn't afford to. I think Stampin Up is a positive company to sell for and that is why I do it but also a company that encourages woman to be strong and independent. That is why I posted. I know Shelli wants to know what we think and that is why I am sharing.I'm aware people will not agree with me but Shelli didn’t build her business by keeping her opinion to herself. In no way do I mean to offend anyone I am just voicing one demonstrators opoion in a positive way.

I went on a camping vacation with my family on the Monday following convention. It was my first convention - I was very homesick and really didn't explain that very well when I ran into you and your husband on the street. It was my first time away from my husband in 23 years and we are still honeymooners. Anyway lots of long walks were a great way to recup from a wonderful convention.

Our demo group, Gotham City Stampers from NYC, was so inspired by Convention. Thank you for including some more retro and vintage stamps and papers in this wonderful new catalog! Hope you have a wonderful vacation. :)

Shelli,

I hope you have a wonderful time at your family reunion. I just received my Fall & Winter Catalogues and I'm only on page 32 and love everything. Stampin Up has really out done themselves. I'm been a demonstrator since February 2008 and absoultely love it. Thanks for sharing what you love.

Hi Shelli! I hope you have a very relaxing and enjoyable time away with your family. What special time that is. I was able to do that earlier in the summer. We lost my dad in the spring which was of course difficult. It had been a very long and hard battle for him. There are six of us sibs and we took a couple of weeks and reflected, laughed, cried and had just a wonderful time together. So...enjoy being with those you love! I'll be watching for your post after you return. Love your site!

Hey there! Hope you totally enjoyed having some time off with your "peeps". LOL I know it is well deserved after convention - with all of us drinking in your enthusiasm and energy! I was so happy to have been able to make my 2nd convention along with my daughter, my downline. It's a great time for us. Also - just wanted to say how much I totally LOVE the new catty...it totally rocks!
