Polka Dot Girls

In October, I blogged about a cute little quartet of sisters who came and serenaded me for my birthday. The girls, ages 8 to 15, live in my neighborhood, and they love to sing.

Well, they stopped by again last night to share some Christmas carols. They’ve added a few movements to their repertoire, and they are amazing! We mentioned that they were good enough to get paid, and their mom said that they had started a little business. (She gave us their business card and contact information: Polka Dot )

It shouldn’t surprise you that I love to support entrepreneurs—Stampin’ Up! is based on the entrepreneurial spirit of incredible women everywhere—especially when real talent is involved. (My little brother used to go around our neighborhood selling rocks, and while he gets points for effort, there wasn’t a lot of value in what he was selling!)

These girls, on the other hand, have real talent! They each play at least one musical instrument, and they love performing—you can tell. Mom isn’t behind the scenes prodding them along. This is something they enjoy doing.

Sterling already told them to put our anniversary on their calendar, and I’m looking forward to paying them for that appearance!

Those girls are absolutely adorable! I remember how much fun we used to have as kids Christmas caroling each year! How special that they sang for you for your birthday!

I have to share this with you, Shelli - Each year for Christmas, since my kids were in grade school, I have given them a Calendar - usually something they are interested in.

This year, I created a "scrapbook" calendar with MDS - with the picture part of the calendar like a scrapbook page of whoever's birthday or special event it is that month.

OMG -it was delivered today and I'm about in tears - it is absolutely GORGEOUS and my kids are going to LOVE IT!!!

This has made me love MDS even more! I would love to share it with you, but don't know where to send the file to!

I just had to share!

Thank you for all you do, Shelli, and God Bless!

I strongy support home based businesses as well. I have a friend who has started her own home based business. She's designing and making designer cloths out of "repurposed" cloths. The money that she makes goes to two non profit christian organizations (which is another reason i support her) Check our her cloths sometime. domesticprimadonna.com

LOVED the story about your little brother selling rocks! My little brother and I both used to sell rocks. I would thoughtfully sort through them searching for the most beautiful ones, then proceed back home to my kitchen sink to wash and dry them all, THEN I would head out to the neighbors featuring my "exclusive" collection. My brother, on the other hand, ran out, collected all his rocks...as many and as fast as he could, THEN proceeded to the neigbors homes featuring his "rocks". HE ALWAYS OUTDID ME IN SALES! GO FIGURE... :)
