Helping Haiti

I don’t know if you’ve heard or not, but we’re involved in some promotions to help the Haitians who have been devastated by the earthquake last week. In addition to donating portions of the proceeds from the sale of a certain stamp set depending on each market, Stampin’ Up! bought some supplies for 5,000 hygiene kits. A few of our vendors also donated supplies for the kits as well.
We invited our employees to help assemble the kits over the next few days, and apparently the response was so enthusiastic that they got all the kits assembled in one day! I felt badly when I found out—I was working from home today and planned on helping assemble the kits later this week.
But when I opened the pictures they sent me from the home office, I admit that I teared up a bit and my heart almost burst. My disappointment at not being able to work side by side with others in this good cause was offset by the tremendous sense of pride I felt to be associated with people who are so willing to help out in any way possible.
It’s only fitting that one of these pictures shows our own Stampin’ Up! president Dale Fillmore, because the idea for the kits was his. Like so many of our Stampin’ Up! employees, demonstrators, and customers, he was looking for a way to help that would truly be beneficial.
We are excited to get these kits shipped off as quickly as possible; we are working through an organization that is already recognized and involved in the relief efforts. And our thoughts and prayers are with the innocent people who have been so devastated by this terrible event.

I am excited to find out more about the stamp set, and I would like to make one request of you, if I could. I would like to donate all of my commission from the sales of these sets to the same organization that SU! will donate the proceeds of the sales of the stamp set. I would think it's not a reach to assume that other demonstrators might also want to do likewise. Is there any way you can get us the information that we need in order to send our own personal donations of our commissions (and maybe then some for some of us)?
Thank you so much!
I'm sorry that what I about to write does not relate to this post because I feel that what you have done for the Haitian people is admirable. My husband and I have discussed trying to find a way to go down to Haiti and try to be of assistance as we both speak French and thought we might be helpful in some way, but I have a feeling we might be more of a hindrance than anything else.......
That said, the actual reason I am writing to you here is because I remember you saying that you always read every comment on your blog and I wasn't sure how else to get a quick message to you!
I just got home from leadership and I have felt so inspired! I already have 5 girls planning on signing up before the January 31st deadline....I might just be a shoe in to have you as a house guest.....wouldn't that be a dream!!!
Anyhow, to the point! Before I started as a demo, I actually outright disliked anything Vintage!!! I KNOW right?! lol Anyway, in the last two years, because of you, this style has become one of my favorites!!! And so I had to send you this SHOUT OUT!!!! because I have just completed my first Vintage Scrapbook page and I wanted you to see the blog post that explains how you have inspired me!!
So here is the link....it is the post from January 20/2010

as a new demo in the UK I'm looking forward to finding out which stamp set we'll be looking to sell to help raise funds and do our bit too.Lovely to see the gesture of the hygiene kits.

My mother (an RN) leaves next week to go work as a relief worker/nurse in Haiti for at least 2 weeks. She was in the Dominican Republic when the quake hit and tried to stay to help but it was too chaotic (and dangerous) at the time. She felt she HAD to go back. I have been helping to gather supplies for her to take with her and my son's preschool is getting involved as well. We now have 4 huge boxes ready to go......now we just need some $ to pay for shipping those boxes she can't take on the plane.
One thing I know, despite whatever we may think about our governement, American people are amazing at their willingness to help those who are hurting!
Thank you so much for allowing us to help Haiti with our Stampin' Up! business. Haiti is very near to my heart and I was a missionary there for 4 years and I met and married my wonderful husband there. All of his family is still there and our friends. Many have lost their homes and we have lost loved ones. To know that Stampin' Up! has so quickly responded to help and then to also package up hygiene kits to send, just warms my heart and makes me glad to be part of this wonderful company!!
Blessings,
My office is also gathering money to send to the Red Cross to help.
Thanks for all you do!
Cindy
You are right Shelli, what an impressive and inspiring group from the top down and back up again at the Stampin' Up! organization.
It makes my heart burst that I belong to such a company that can share so much! After coming back from my first leadership I was so overwhelmed and happy. Words could not express the emotions.
But now that I see what we can do to make a difference it just solidifies that my decision to join such an awesome company was the right choice!!!
