The Color Renovation

Sara and I are in Frankenmuth, Michigan, today for the next Workshop of a Lifetime. As you know, my life for the past few weeks has been full of mostly workshops and wedding plans, but yesterday I had something else on my mind.

We arrived yesterday, a little earlier in the day because we had to be checked into the hotel and hooked up to the Internet by 4 p.m. (MT) for an exciting webinar we had with our leaders (managers and above). I’ve never done a webinar quite like this one—we had four people participating, and all four of us were calling in from different locations! I was a little nervous, but it went off pretty well considering it involves technology...gotta love it and hate it at the same time!

I’m hoping that the announcement is met with as much enthusiasm as I feel! We announced what we’re calling a “Color Renovation,” which is an update of our color line. We’re adding a few colors, bringing back a few In Colors, and bidding farewell to some of our existing colors. While I will admit that I’ll be missing a few of the “retiring” colors, I am already in love with so many of the new ones!

We’ll still be color-coordinating our products (and offering even more color coordination than before, actually), but our colors are organized into four different collections instead of families. Every time I look at our new color line, I smile—it has such a fresh, vibrant feel! If you’re a demonstrator, you’ll find all the details on our Demonstrator Web Site; if you’re one of our customers, your demonstrator can tell you what it’s all about!

Now I’m off to today’s workshop with Jodi. . . more on that later!

I will admit that I shed a couple tears this morning when I saw how many colors we were losing, especially Brilliant Blue and Green Galore. But now that I've finally been able to watch the webinar and see Carrie's video, I am feeling EXCITED!!! I can't wait to get the new Color Coach and new pads and card stock and PLAY!!!

I am sooooo very excited about the new colors! I am thrilled to see pink pirouette and riding hood red come back. My all time favs! Thank you and SU for all your creativity and hard work.

I think the new colours are beautiful. The new families, sorry, collections! seem to fit better. I only joined SU! in November last year, so haven't had a chance to buy all the colours yet, so this isn't as big a deal to me as it understandably seems to be to some demonstrators who have invested a lot of money in the older colours. But, as someone previously said, what would we think of a fabric store that never changed? Change is a necessary part of life. I'll be donating all the retired inkpads and cardstock I haven't used up to charity, and will gradually build up my new colours when they are available in Australia - I may even do a 'feature colour' per month as I buy them in my workshops and classes. No one said you needed all the new colours straight away!! And, to use one of my favourite quotes by Ellen Glasgow, which I remember when I get uncertain about something new..."The only difference between a rut and a grave is their dimensions."

I am very excited about the new color collections. I think change is a great thing. I have to admit a lot of the colors that are leaving I have to force myself to use. I like the new organization of having in colors stay 2 years and ease new colors in and out. I can not wiat to use the new color guide. I appreciate all the research that went in to the decision to have the color change. Great company.

Thank you Shelli for keeping us up and current in today's trends. I am excited to have some fresh new colors to work with, and as for the colors leaving, well I did not use them much, if at all, so I won't miss them.

Enjoy Saturday and take lots of pictures, with a camera obviously but even more with your heart, you must be so very proud.

See you at Convention!

Hugs,
Di

Oh, how I miss Frankenmuth...... Zehnders, Bavarian Inn, Bronners, The General Store. Hope that you got some free time to explore this quaint little town. There is so much to do there, and such wonderful food. Oh yeah, the fudge is awesome as well. Thanks for sharing all the pictures from your wonderful adventures. Enjoy your continued workshops.

At first I was horrified! Almost as much as the last color change. However, after listening to the webinar, looking at the demo web site, amd pondering the color chart, I AM EXCITED!!!

Like most of you, I cannot afford to invest in a bunch of new pads, paper, markers and the like so I plan to ask every person I talk to if they have an interest in becoming a demo so I can receive the incentive packages. Otherwise I hope to make enough to buy it all with the "retired colors sale" I'll be having this summer, heeheehee.

With the exception of Pacific Point, I am in love with the new colors and the new In Color rotation schedule. There are only 2 or 3 retiring colors that I will keep, all the others are going.

Every company needs to revamp on occasion and stay fresh. I am SO GLAD that SU did this!

Even though I experienced an initial pang of horror at losing so many colors, lol, I've been getting more excited as the hours go by since the announcement. OK, since the "leak" of the announcement yesterday...whatever. Courageous move, Shelli! I know it can't be easy when you know so many will be resistant. But it's a FABULOUS and necessary step and you ROCKED the colors!

I keep telling people this isn't something SU is doing "to" us...these are things that are done FOR all of us, to keep our product offering fresh and exciting. Like many others, I will have to add a bit here and there rather than all at once, but I'm not bothered by that. There are plenty of ways to demo the new colors. Enjoy the rest of your workshop tour!

Hugs,

I'd like to give the Color Renovation another name--Color Re-Innovation! I'm excited to see the brand new colors. I have sold for other direct sales companies that have to change their product line quite frequently and spending $200 on samples is a drop in the bucket for them. I think we are lucky that, in the present economy, we can offer our customers crafty tools and supplies at a reasonable price point. Yay for you, Shelli, and the rest of the Color Re-Innovation team!

At first I was disappointed that you are changing the colours, especially as I'm a new demo & have been busy collecting the inks.
But I like the way you've organised the colours & some of the new one's are yummy!!

I am so thrilled with the new colors and the renovation. It was very needed. Just a thought next product line should be fabric to ordinate with colors and DSP, since I didnt realize I buy clothing with color samples in mind. And since the Big Shot cuts fabric it would be awesome. Just a thought though.

I am really excited about the freshness of the color renovation--I love color. I have found myself reaching for the retiring colors less and less--so I know it is time for a change. I love the idea of In Colors for 2 years, too! At first I was a little worried about the timing as I am already stretching my dollars these days. But, then I realized, there are only five brand new colors. It will be easy to complete my collection over a period of time and still have plenty to show.

ALWAYS ready for a challenge, this Bold Brights Girl is looking forward to learning how to stamp all over again. Color IS very personal, so to me it kinda feels like walking a tight rope without a safety net right now...just means I gotta kick up my tight rope walkin' game. Bring it on!!

I'm excited about the renovation. Everything looks fresh and up to date. Even the older colors I am now seeing in a new light. I have already identified a bunch of new color combos I want to try.
Thanks for everything you do to make Stampin' Up a stable, vibrant company that is a joy to represent.

I CANNOT BELIEVE how many shades of purple were cut from the collection. Shaking my head in disbelief and questioning if I want to continue being a demonstrator.

While I love the new color palette and understand the reason for the changes, I would have liked a bit of a warning that this was even being considered. It would have been less of a kick in the stomach for us new demonstrators who are trying desperately in this economy to create a stash of supplies that we can work from only to find that more than half of what I own just turned obsolete. This will set me back a bit on my goals.

I'm excited about the changes and try to keep a positive outlook And in the long run I know it will be great - it's just the immediacy of the situation that's difficult to deal with.

Now I that take a HORRID second peek at the color chart, I realize you retired ALL the colors I design with. Unbelievable!!

I was a little sad when the Color Renovation was announced, but the more I look at the new colors, the more I like them. I think this will be a wonderful change. Who doesn't like to try new colors when they buy clothes? It's the same thing just using new colors to create great projects.

Thank you! This is a fantastic opportunity for us. Yes, change can be hard, but we demos may want to own everything, but we don't need to own everything to have a successful business. I'm looking forward to all the opportunities with the new colors!

I am excited about the new colors. I think its great to be part of a company that is not afraid to make changes to keep us up to date with the current trends. Any chance of getting kiwi kiss back?

Shelly,
I was so pleased to meet you last night at Jodi's reception in Franenmuth. You and Sara could not have been more kind. So down to earth and friendly, I was the one with the short haircut that you admired. How funny, because I was actually waiting for you to turn around so I could get a good shot of YOUR cool do ! I am so glad that I was able to attend and got many good pics of the evening.
I am thrilled about the new color restoration, that was actually the only question I had for you last night and lo and behold it was answered on the website right before I left the house to meet you. I think it is a fantastic idea to update our colors and keep things fresh and current. I am more than thrilled that some of the in colors made the cut.I have so many that I fell in love with and really hated to see them go.
I love SU and look forward to the future,
Beth
