The Color Renovation

Sara and I are in Frankenmuth, Michigan, today for the next Workshop of a Lifetime. As you know, my life for the past few weeks has been full of mostly workshops and wedding plans, but yesterday I had something else on my mind.

We arrived yesterday, a little earlier in the day because we had to be checked into the hotel and hooked up to the Internet by 4 p.m. (MT) for an exciting webinar we had with our leaders (managers and above). I’ve never done a webinar quite like this one—we had four people participating, and all four of us were calling in from different locations! I was a little nervous, but it went off pretty well considering it involves technology...gotta love it and hate it at the same time!

I’m hoping that the announcement is met with as much enthusiasm as I feel! We announced what we’re calling a “Color Renovation,” which is an update of our color line. We’re adding a few colors, bringing back a few In Colors, and bidding farewell to some of our existing colors. While I will admit that I’ll be missing a few of the “retiring” colors, I am already in love with so many of the new ones!

We’ll still be color-coordinating our products (and offering even more color coordination than before, actually), but our colors are organized into four different collections instead of families. Every time I look at our new color line, I smile—it has such a fresh, vibrant feel! If you’re a demonstrator, you’ll find all the details on our Demonstrator Web Site; if you’re one of our customers, your demonstrator can tell you what it’s all about!

Now I’m off to today’s workshop with Jodi. . . more on that later!

Shelli I am also excited about the new color groups and already organized my ink pad holder! I can't wait to get the new colors! I must say I will miss the blues, yellows and purples going out!

I am so excited with these color changes and already love the new collections! I am also very excited to be able to rearrange "My Stamp Pad" once again! It is always refreshing to do that! I plan to use my retiring colors a lot over the next few months both to use mine up and to create the need for my customers to have them! Thanks for always keeping us up on the current and new trends!!

At the moment I am unable to access the new info, but I was able to see the new color chart. I am thrilled to see the in colors that made it into the collection. Will miss some of the retiring colors, but you cannot move forward if you are looking backward. Thank you for keeping Stampin Up fresh and moving forwards.

am I the only one sad about this?!?! there's great colors that we're losing plus spending more money to just to be a demonstrator!
April 6, 2010 | Unregistered Commenterrachel
Rachel, I am also sad. I'm most disappointed that all but 2 of the Bold Brights have been discontinued. I use these colors almost exclusively; they're my favorites. I like the new colors, and the ones kept in the palette, but I find I almost always reach for the brighter colors. While I understand the need for change, I am disappointed that so many of my favorites will be gone.

Shelli - THANK YOU for this FRESH and beautiful change!

This isn't a Color Renovation, it is a Color Revolution! I like change because it keeps one current and helps you grow. I have embraced the last 2 or 3 color changes and the In Colors, but to lose 30 colors simultaneously is too much! After living in 4 houses, 3 states, in 2 years, I have adapted to change and managed to keep my SU business going. I was looking forward to my 10th Anniversary with SU in June, but the Color Revolution has knocked the wind out of me; not so sure I will make the 10th Anniversary.

Shelli....YEAH!!! I am all for updating our colors and after watching Carrie's video, I am even more excited. Only a couple BooHoos..Blush Blossom, Creamy Caramel and Close to Cocoa. These colors are well loved by those of us that have fun with punch art. They are such perfect skin tone colors. I hope they keep this in mind as they make all the changes. As far as the rest goes, when talking with my downline, today, i asked if you went into a craft/fabric store and they always had the same color scheme, how often would you return? This made them and me think..So again, YEAH!! I'm excited. Bring on the change.

I am thrilled to learn that 2 of my favorite colors (Pink Pirouette and Baja Breeze) are coming back. YAAAAYYY Stampin' Up!!!! The downside is ... doing such a drastic color change it is so expensive to have to purchase so many new colors (or replace some I sold when they retired) !!! It's fine if you have a ton of money to do so. I am a VERY part time demonstrator (barely meeting my quarterly minimums), I'm a student, and I do not work outside the home ... so coming up with extra money is difficult and I can't justify spending money on new pads when we have kids going off to college in a year, car insurance for 2 teens, etc. Good thing I saved all my retired In-colors!!

Shelli, I know change is hard for those of us who are old timers but we will love the final results. The NEW color families will be accepted and worked into our projects just like most unexpected but good changes come our way. By CONVENTION 2010, I bet most will think it was their idea for the great changes.

Hi Shelli! I LOVE the new groupings. They make more sense to me than the last. Yes, I have some I will miss too, but I am gonna stock up! This is truly exciting! I cannot wait until we can get these and am SO excited to get Pink Pirouette in a stamp pad because I have been beating myself up for not getting that one when I got the 5 others. Truly a great change!

I for one am very very excited. I was starting to have a hard time using the old colors and am looking forward to playing with the new. Thank you thank you.

Shelli--
As the renovation was leaked yesterday, some of us received it only in part. I have to say, I was not excited, and even upset. However, I feel that I must eat my hat! "Vibrant" and "fresh" are the words that come to mind over and over again regarding our new color line. Like I told my downline and some other demonstrator friends, I feel that this renovation will inspire us all to fall in love with Stampin' Up! all over again! And you can bet that I'll have two recruits by May 29th to get those kits! Way to help encourage and reward those of us already on recruit crew even more!

I actually am disappointed, concerned and feel betrayed. I was around with the last large color change and we were assured that it wouldn't happen again. Now it has. The demo talking mentioned that all together the amount it would cost would be a little less than $200 as if that's a small amount. I'm a senior supervisor and that is close to 1/3 of what I made from SU last year. Not a small amount! I may loose part of my downline over this, I will lose possible recruits. Especially this on top of new punches, new clear blocks and stamps, etc.

Shelli -
Welcome to Michigan! I hope you get a chance to spend some time sightseeing in Frankenmuth! We love it there! I absolutely love the new Color Collections! Thanks so much for all you do for us! I know that change is difficult for some and I hope folks will come to appreciate that growth comes with change - so keep those changes coming!

I am so excited about the Color Renovation - the new colors are just beautiful, I can't wait to get my hands on them - and I love that some of the In Colors came back...now I can only hope that one day Soft Sky reappears! Great job Shelli & everyone at SU, i'm sure it was a lot of work and I certainly appreciate it!
I'm so proud to be a SU demo.

I have to honestly say when I heard (it was leaked yesterday) that there was a color change, I thought "OMG!!! Are they crazy"??? I just finished collecting every one the ink pads and every one of the Cardstock families. When I saw the colors that are coming back, I got really excited! I kept all my in-colors from last year so that is a few that I will not have to buy. I do LOVE the color collection!!! However, now that I will have to invest in alot of new cardstock, new ink pads, markers, and watercolors I will NOT be able to attend Convention.

I saw the new collections and love them - especially that you've brought back ridinghood red & baja breeze - but I love new ones like the espresso & the cherry! I think this was a great move!~

I love it!!! I'm over joyed with glee to see my Pink Pirouette back.. the best color EVER it was time for a revamp of the colors.. So many colors never get used and it's sad to see them sitting there all alone.

A couple of months ago, a new gal joined my stampin' club. She happens to be a (hobbyist) consultant for another direct sales company that sells stamps, etc.and she gave me one of her catalogues to look at. I was not at all interested in the stamps because they are the clear polymer (our RUBBER stamps are the best!!) But I took a keen interest in the colour combinations featured in their catalogue, and couldn't help but feel that they were very fresh and exciting . . . fast forward to today, when I discovered that Stampin' Up! will be refreshing OUR colour selection. Superb idea!! I know it will be hard to let go of so many of those old colours, but I want my customers to FEEL the way that I did when I looked at that other catalogue and had that tingle of excitement for new possibilities! Thanks for keeping us #1!
